Workspace Overview & The Work Breakdown Structure

The main Dual Point Estimation app page (accessible via Jira's top Apps navigation bar) provides a comprehensive view of your project's estimates. It organizes project management into three distinct workspaces and renders issues in an interactive Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) tree.

Page Hierarchy & Controls

The page is structured into top-down levels of control:

  1. Workspaces: The primary operating modes (Planning, Tracking, Review).
  2. Jira Filter Bar: Controls for Project, Status, Affects Versions, Fix Versions, and Components.
  3. Scorecards: Contextual summary cards tailored to the active workspace.
  4. Problem Filters: Quick diagnostic buttons (Unestimated, Exceeding High, Approaching High, Subtasks Estimate Too High).
  5. WBS Table: The hierarchical list of issues with smart sorting and inline estimation.

The Three Workspaces

Clicking a workspace button acts as a focused preset:

  • Planning: Sets Status to incomplete issues (To Do + In Progress) and sorts by Uncertainty.
  • Tracking: Sets Status to active work (In Progress) and sorts by Progress %.
  • Review: Sets Status to completed work (Done) and sorts by Variance.

Workspace States: Default vs. Reconfigured

If you manually adjust a filter (e.g., adding a specific status to the Planning view), the workspace tab transitions from a solid filled button to an outlined button. This indicates that the view has been customized, while keeping the relevant scorecards and problem filters active.

The Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) Table

The main table displays your tasks with complete parent-child context:

1. Tree Guide Lines & Expansion

Issues are grouped hierarchically (Epics → Stories/Tasks → Subtasks). Thin vertical guide lines trace parent-child relationships. You can expand or collapse individual parent tickets, or use the top-left toggle to expand or collapse all tickets at once.

2. Ancestor Hover Highlighting

Hovering your mouse over any issue row immediately highlights all parent and ancestor rows in subtle contrast, making it easy to identify the chain of ownership.

Global Undo (Cmd+Z / Ctrl+Z)

While working in the table, all estimate changes are tracked in an in-memory history stack. If you make an accidental change or want to revert an edit, simply press Cmd+Z (macOS) or Ctrl+Z (Windows/Linux) to instantly undo the modification.
